Happy Birthday Walt Disney World!
On this day in 1971, the Walt Disney World Resort and the Magic Kingdom opened to the public for the very first time. Eleven years later in 1982, Disney World’s second park โ EPCOT โ also celebrated its grand opening, making October 1st a very special day for the Disney Parks in Florida!
October 1, 2020 marks the 49th Anniversary of the Walt Disney World Resort and Magic Kingdom, and the 38th Anniversary of EPCOT. In 1971, guests could find attractions like Dumbo the Flying Elephant and the Tropical Serenade (now known as Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room) at the Magic Kingdom, and in 1982 the EPCOT Center (now known simply as EPCOT) mesmerized guests with its 18-story sphere structure featuring the now fan-favorite Spaceship Earth attraction.
